Queen Camilla's silence has been broken more than two years after her husband King Charles III's cancer diagnosis. The royal opened up about how she navigated the ordeal alongside Britain's monarch.

Camilla, 79, spoke about their journey in a short film published by Maggie's — a charity she has visited that provides support to cancer patients — on August 19.

"I remember coming to see a Maggie's just after the king being diagnosed," she shared in the video, filmed during her 2024 visit. "Nobody could say anything at the time, that was quite difficult."

Though she wanted to share her thoughts openly at the time, she and Charles were still keeping the matter private.

"I almost said something but, you know, I felt that it wasn't the time to say," she continued. "[I] looked at everybody who was suffering and all the relations, and I think it made me realize even more how important these places were. I was just longing to let it out but obviously I couldn't."

Elsewhere in the film, which marked Maggie's 30th anniversary, Camilla also described how determined Charles was to keep working despite his struggles. "Look at my husband, nothing stopped him," she reflected. "He just said, 'This is my way I'm going to cope with it.'"

Charles announced he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer, following surgery for an enlarged prostate, in February 2024, and began treatment shortly after.

In December 2025, the 77-year-old shared a promising update, noting his treatment schedule would be "reduced" in 2026 "thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to 'doctors' orders.'"

"This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years," Charles shared in a pre-recorded video that aired on Channel 4 in support of "Stand Up To Cancer."

"Testimony that I hope may give encouragement to the 50 percent of us who will be diagnosed with the illness at some point in our lives."

"I know, too, what a difference it has made in my own case," he added, "enabling me to continue leading a full and active life, even while undergoing treatment."

But as he explained, he's learned more than just about his own condition throughout this journey. "As I have observed before," he said in his video message, "the darkest moments of illness can be illuminated by the greatest compassion."
