Tom Selleck and Ted Danson to Reunite On-Screen for First Time Since 'Three Men and a Baby'

Nearly 40 years after "Three Men and a Baby" made them an unlikely on-screen duo, Tom Selleck and Ted Danson are teaming up again for an untitled Apple TV comedy. The casting marks Selleck's first TV role since the abrupt cancellation of "Blue Bloods."

Tom Selleck will be back on the small screen, and this time, he's bringing an old friend along with him.

The 81-year-old actor has booked his first TV role since the surprise cancellation of his long-running show, ”Blue Bloods.” The yet-untitled Apple TV comedy will reunite him on screen with his "Three Men and a Baby" co-star, Ted Danson, after nearly 40 years.

The upcoming series stars Elizabeth Banks as a woman navigating a messy divorce who ends up managing her father's retirement-community love life. While Danson will be playing Banks’ father, Selleck’s role hasn’t been revealed. The new series also features Katey Sagal, Rob Delaney, Hamish Linklater, Michelle Buteau, and Simu Liu.
Selleck and Danson previously starred together in the 1987 box-office hit, "Three Men and a Baby," where they played roommates, along with Steve Guttenberg, who were forced to take care of a baby that landed on their doorstep. Its sequel, "Three Men and a Little Lady," followed in 1990.

Last month, Selleck was a guest on Danson’s podcast, “Where Everybody Knows Your Name,” and he spoke of the frustration brought about by the cancellation of “Blue Bloods” after 14 seasons.

Selleck said the cast had already taken a 25 percent pay cut to help keep the show running. "Out of the top 100 shows on broadcast television, “Blue Bloods” was number six in our 15th year," he added. "Nobody wanted to leave."

A spinoff, "Boston Blue," took the place of "Blue Bloods." The series, led by Donnie Wahlberg, will be returning for its second season this fall.
