Snoop Dogg's Biopic Casts Camron Jones to Play Tupac Shakur

The film that will detail the life of one of the most influential rappers in the music industry is coming along nicely with the addition of an up-and-coming actor as the "California Love" artist.

Camron Jones has been cast as Tupac Shakur in the biopic for Snoop Dogg's life, which is titled just "Snoop." The 30-year-old actor is best known for working on Amazon Prime's "Panic," and should bring a fresh face to the Universal Pictures project.

Craig Brewer is set to direct the film, while Brian Grazer, who produced Eminem's "8 Mile," has signed on to produce along with Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker and Snoop Dogg himself.

As for who will be playing the central role… that honor is going to Jonathan Daviss from Netflix's "Outer Banks." Dr. Dre will be interpreted by Myles Bullock Be, while Lauren London has signed on to play Snoop Dogg's mother.

When news broke about Jones' casting, the actor shared a screenshot of the Hollywood Reporter story on his Instagram, writing, "God is good! Words can't express how grateful I am & what an honor it is to help bring your story to life unc @snoopdogg we know what @2pac to u & to all of us [sic]."

Snoop Dogg and Shakur were both part of Death Row Records in the 1990s and made several hit songs together, some of which could appear in the film's soundtrack.
