Sandra Bullock Has a Shoulder Tattoo Honoring Her Kids

Sandra Bullock debuted the ink on her shoulder at the London premiere of "Practical Magic 2." It's a small, permanent nod to the two people who matter most in her life.

At the August 26 premiere of “Practical Magic 2” in London, the actress’ shoulder tattoo made its public debut as she graced the red carpet event in a strapless leopard-print Givenchy gown.

The tattoo's design features the letters L and B alongside the number 2 — the initials of her children, Louis, 16, and Laila, 12. Her representative confirmed that the ink, which reads “LB2,” was a tribute to her children.

Bullock also spoke about her children at the premiere, reflecting on how parenting helped shape her connection to her "Practical Magic" character, Sally Owens, who is fiercely protective of the people she loves.

“I think any mother will tell you [that] all you want is for them to not have the same pain as you did,” she told People. “But guess what? That’s not their journey.”

That same protectiveness has come up before, particularly when Bullock reflected on the eventuality of her son, a Black man, leaving her home. She's said that once he's out on his own, she won't be able to follow him everywhere, though she'll try — and all she can do is hope she's raised him well.

Bullock has also spoken about how motherhood influences her career decisions. Earlier this year, she said she agreed to reprise her "Practical Magic" role mainly because production schedules aligned with her children’s school schedule. "I’m not going to sacrifice my children’s — my time — with my kids," Bullock said.

Bullock became a mother in her 40s through adoption, welcoming Louis in 2010, and Laila five years later, both as a single parent. She's said she felt an unexplainable pull toward Louis' home state of Louisiana even before meeting him.
